Opening: Media Specialist Position

Position Description

Park Avenue United Methodist Church

 

Job Title:    Social Media Specialist – 8 hours per week @ $12.00 per hour

Purpose:  To enhance and manage all aspects of social, virtual, and electronic media and communication for Park Avenue United Methodist Church (PAUMC)

 

Principal responsibilities:

  1. Use knowledge of social media and mobile communication protocols to assist in developing church’s social media strategies
  2. Act as the point person and represent the church for all communication/promotion requests
  3. Maintain Park Avenue’s Social Media platforms such as but not limited to: Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter with fresh, relevant content. Will moderate posts and will report and flag inappropriate comments
  4. Maintain Park Avenue’s Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter pages with fresh, relevant content. Will moderate some of the posts but will report and flaginappropriate comments
  5. Oversees the production of the monthly Video announcement which includes coordinating and proofing the content of the script
  6. Work in collaboration with PAUMC leadership, staff, and committees to conduct seasonal social media campaigns

Required Skills

  1. Experience with social media strategies and social media management platforms
  2. Experience with customer service
  3. Experience with WordPress and other CMS platforms
  4. Experience converting graphics and video into web and mobile-friendly files
  5. Great written skills

Other Requirements:

  1. Tasks will be performed a minimum of 4 hours weekly at the church on Wednesdays in order to connect and interact with the staff. The rest is flexible and can be done remotely
  2. Willingness to connect personally with the congregation
  3. Growing relationship with Jesus Christ
