Fulfilling the Call: Prayer Letter

Dear brothers, sisters, family and friends of Park Avenue Church,

We are writing to you today to ask you to pray.

We are not asking you for money, or to visit a website for more information, or to purchase tickets or attend an event.

Only to pray.

Because as John Wesley said, “Prayer is where the action is.”

As many of you are aware, Park Avenue Church is beginning a season of exploration into “Fulfilling The Call”.

Many years ago, the Park Avenue congregation felt called to build and expand at 34th & Park Avenue to make disciples for Jesus Christ and facilitate spiritual and social transformation in the Central neighborhood.

That vision has been both a blessing and a struggle over the years, but we now have an opportunity to complete the task that God has given us.

When Nehemiah and the Israelites tried to rebuild Jerusalem, they faced many challenges and risks — but they completed God’s vision by working together in faith.

This is how you can help. Pray for the vision, the congregation, the community, and the leaders of the team as they strive to define and fulfill the call that God has placed upon Park Avenue Church. And specifically …

-Pray for us to work together in faith
-Pray for discernment of God’s vision for Park Avenue Church
-Pray for the neighborhood and community that rely on our facility for basic needs & services
-Pray for personal insight and guidance … asking “Lord, what do You want to do through me?”
-Pray for the Park Avenue congregation – as they will be praying for you to consider that this church is the body that you are called to; and one of the greatest ways to experience God’s love is through the church.
-Pray for repentance and forgiveness, as sin hinders your ability to let God work through you
-Pray for revelation regarding spending habits and new opportunity

Now is the time for us to prepare for Fulfilling the Call. When we all pray together we can, like Nehemiah, accomplish seemingly impossible things that result in opening doors of incredible possibility.

The Israelites faced crumbling walls, famine, and threats from every direction. At Park Avenue Church, we face a debt of close to $700,000 and urgent facility needs to progress as an agent of transformation in the Central neighborhood.

With our prayers, and God’s empowerment and direction, “Fulfilling the Call” will change our trajectory and open up new possibilities for ministry, just as Nehemiah and the Israelites experienced.

Please pray with us, and open the doors of incredible possibility.

Yours in Christ,
