Cornerstone Store

Cornerstone Ministry is one of the Park Avenue’s outreach ministries. Cornerstone provides clothing and assistance to our neighbors and members during times of need. Cornerstone is a ministry of blessing where the congregation and community merchants give out of their abundance and expand the circle of giving. Cornerstone is dedicated to joyfully providing high quality Christ-like service that honors the humanity and dignity of all people and moves those served to hope.

Cornerstone is open to the public and Park Avenue Church congregation, regardless of income or zip code.

Cornerstone hours:

Tuesdays: Noon to 5:30 pm
Wednesdays: Noon to 7:30pm
Thursdays: 3 to 5pm

*please note that summer hours may go into effect.

Occasionally after the 10am church service for congregation shopping. We would love to see you on Sunday at our service at 10:00am … then you’ll be able to shop afterward if we’re open!

Special arrangements can be made by contacting Cornerstone Director Heidi Janecke at

Clothing Ministry
  • We provide gently used clothing, toys, and household items.
  • All of these things will be priced on a per-item basis.
  • There is a procedure for those families or individuals who are unable to pay; ask Director Heidi Janecke to be screened to see who qualifies for this option.

We accept neatly bagged or boxed donations in the Cornerstone reception area. Donation needs include:

  • Travel-size personal care items
  • Costume jewelry
  • Small household appliances (e.g. toasters, coffee makers), sets of dishes, sets of silverware, and sets of glasses/cups
  • Clothes that are GENTLY used (clean, current, free of stains and not in need of repair). Basically, we would like clothes/shoes that you would wear yourself or give to a good friend.
  • Boys Youth-size clothing – current and clean!

Electronics such as televisions and computers are not to be left for donations as we have no way to dispose of them.

Following these guidelines will cut down on the number of volunteers needed for sorting as well as decrease the amount of trash that is generated by having to dispose of unusable items. Thank you!

Volunteer opportunities include:

  • Clothes sorters, clothes hangers, cashiers, interpreters, store greeters/assistants. All of these positions are available once a month or up to four times a month. Training will be provided.

We started in the 70’s by 3 women at Park to help give the families in our church clothing for their children. Since then, we have grown to help families in our neighborhood with clothing as well as housewares, and establish relationships with them to offer other programs we have at Park Avenue Church.

We have clothing starting from $0.50 and higher; most clothing is $1.00, sizes infant to adult, mens and womens, shoes, accessories, decorative items and small housewares. Inventory changes constantly. If you are able to afford more, we are happy to “round up” your bill!

You can drop off donations outside the store anytime the church is open. Please do not leave donations outside the building.

Clothing that is donated has to be clean, without hair (human or pet) and no repairs needed.  Our general rule is if you wouldn’t want to wear it or see your loved ones wear it, our neighbors don’t want to wear it either.

Anyone can shop at our store — we just ask you to bring cash and small bills as we are not set up for electronic purchases due to our low cost of goods.
