Youth Advent Bible Study

Four Wednesdays, December 2-23:  6:00 – 7:00 p.m.

You are invited to join a four week Advent Bible study. We will be studying the themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love. Each night we will watch a short video from the Bible Project, review the related scripture and discuss the topic in relation to what is going on in our world and your life today. This will be a space to take a deep breath, connect with others, and learn more about why Christ came to us in the first place. There will be one group for girls and one for boys led by volunteers who love you guys.
Please sign up here to participate and receive your zoom link.

Confirmation

6 – 12 Grade | Youth Room (Upper Level)

Schedule can be requested

Confirmation is an opportunity for youth to learn from pastoral staff and mentors what it means to live out their faith in Christ. Students engage weekly in topics of personal faith and church history, and learn what it means to be an active member of Christ’s family and the church body. Students also meet with a mentor during the confirmation process. In the end, students will be invited to confirm or reaffirm their faith in Christ during a confirmation ceremony with the whole congregation.

The 2019/2020 confirmation session is underway.

Summer Programs

Biennial Mission Trip

9 – 12 Grade

Every two years high school students have an opportunity to stretch their ideas of what it means to serve, love, need and give. In the past, students have gone to New York City, Denver, and Montreal to learn from local residents, support projects identified by the community, and engage their faith in action. Participating youth have the opportunity to engage in fundraisers to raise money for their trip.

2021 Mission Trip dates and location coming soon.

Vacation Bible School Youth Volunteer

6 – 12 Grade

Vacation Bible School is a much loved annual event for children 4 years – 4th grade held one week each summer from 9:00 a.m. – noon. Youth support this successful event by  organizing activities and skits for the children. This is a wonderful opportunity for youth to build confidence, develop leadership skills and work alongside other adults in the church community.

2020 VBS volunteer info coming soon.

Summer Camp

Entering 4th grade – 12th grade  | Clearwater Forest

Each summer, youth can attend a week of camp at Clearwater Forest. Each session is rich in outdoor activities and engaging spiritual formation. From learning to paddle a kayak to completing the high ropes course to journaling in a hammock, camp provides an environment that helps campers stretch and grow in a safe, Christian community.

Park Avenue UMC sends our youth off to camp as a group and with a staff member or parent volunteer who stays at camp the entire week to provide support. We also provide transportation to and from camp and scholarships to help with registration fees.

2020 Summer Camp dates coming soon.
