Missions Summer Series – with a Twist!

For the past many years, the Mission Commission has sponsored a Sunday Morning Summer Series related to missions –  both near and far.  We have had the opportunity to introduce the Park Avenue community to some of our long-term mission partners serving in various ends of the earth.  This has been a great opportunity to hear about how God is working on the other side of the globe.

We have also had the opportunity to hear from some of our local mission partners to hear about how God is working right here in our own back yard.

This year, we are continuing this tradition, with a twist. Starting on Wednesday evening, June 15 …

“God’s 20/20 vision:  Spreading the Gospel during hard times?”

When: Wednesday Evenings at 7:30pm on Zoom. Each week, join others as a different mission partner talks about how God is working during these times.

As God told Habakkuk 1:5 “Look among the nations! Observe! Be astonished! Wonder! Because I am doing something in your days that you would not believe if you were told.”

July 15: Christ’s Children Ministries
Founded in 1994 by Rev. Chris McNair and his wife, Lisa, their mission is to lift up the name of Jesus and work toward the transformation of children, youth and their families through evangelism, discipleship and Christian community. The many programs and activities of Christ’s Children are vehicles for our community to encounter God in Christ through redemptive relationships.

July 22: Families Moving Forward
Park Avenue has partnered for the last few years with Richfield UMC and Families Moving Forward to host families who are experiencing homelessness, extending hospitality and a warm, safe place to rest.  The program has shifted to address concerns with Covid 19.

August 12: Iglesia Piedra Viva
“Living Stone” Church is a Spanish-speaking United Methodist Church for the growing community in South Minneapolis.

August 19: Navigators – Anna Snider
Anna is a holistic disciplemaker, focusing on journeying with white people to see how the gospel impacts and transforms the racialized identities. She is also engaged in staff training with The Navigators, and serves on a team addressing systemic bias within the organization.

August 26: Matt Glover
