What a great Palm Sunday we had! Inspiring music, dance, and two baptisms. More folks in the sanctuary than we’ve seen in a long time! What a joy to see so many of you worship together. I’ll have more of that, please.
Of course, this Sunday, we celebrate Easter, resurrection and new life! Why not invite a friend or family member to join you? You can even offer them breakfast. Our youth will offer a pancake breakfast before the service. Your donations support the youth mission trip this summer to Washington D.C. Flap-jacks start flying off the griddle at 8:30 a.m.
But before we get to Sunday, I want to invite you to a special Maundy Thursday service. We’ll begin at 5:30 p.m. with a soup & pie dinner in the dining room. At 6:30 we’ll start our service in the sanctuary. I like soup but I LOVE pie. What about you? Hope to see you tomorrow night.
“Maundy” comes from “mandatum,” Latin for “command.” And what’s the command? John reminds us that it is to love. “I give you a new commandment,” Jesus says. “Love each other. Just as I have loved you, so you also must love each other. This is how everyone will know that you are my disciples, when you love each other.” Can you command love? Well, Jesus thought you could. Read John 13. There you’ll see Jesus washing feet, celebrating the Passover meal with his disciples, and then giving the new command to love as we have been loved.
Breathe love,
Pastor Gregg
