Moving On

By April 28, 2022June 2nd, 2022No Comments

Just a quick thought following Easter Sunday, and then I want to bring three things in the life of our church to your attention.

After Easter Sunday, it’s easy to move on with our lives until next year when we celebrate the day again.

Of course, the resurrection of Jesus communicates something different. For the first followers, this was not just a regular day they could move on from. It was an earth-shattering event that changed every day that followed, as they found the risen Christ encountering them for the rest of their lives. And by the way, often these encounters occurred without them realizing the risen Christ was present (at least at first). The walk to Emmaus is one example. If you have a couple of minutes, read about it here to see what I mean.

Just wondering how often we are encountered by Christ without knowing it. Or how often do we realize only in hindsight that God has paid us a visit?

Where is the risen Christ? My guess is everywhere and all around us. This is not something we move on from. More like something we learn to live into.

Three things in the life of the church

Traces of the Trade: We’ve got a good crowd coming to the Traces of the Trade session on Saturday. Scroll down for more information. If you haven’t already let us know you’re coming, there’s still time. Just click here to send a quick email.

Work Day Rescheduled: The weather looks nasty on Saturday, so the church work day has been rescheduled for Saturday, May 7, from 9 a.m. – Noon.

Director of Children’s Ministry Position: We’re seeking to hire a permanent director of children’s ministry at Park to reimagine and reboot the church’s children’s ministry program according to our strategic focus to be the church on the block, for the block, and for kids. Maybe you know someone who would be interested. Feel free to pass this information along.

The 30-hour per week position includes a competitive salary and benefits. To apply, send a letter of interest and resume to Carla Urban, SPRC Chair, Park Avenue UMC, 3400 Park Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55407, or to cjdurban@gmail.com. Deadline: 6/23/2022 or until filled. To view the full posting and job description, click here.

We’re grateful to Alexis Love, who has been working with our children on an interim basis. Alexis will continue working with our children’s and youth choirs once the new director of children’s ministry position is filled.

Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday (if not before).

Breathe love,

Pastor Gregg
