Opened Door

By May 5, 2022June 2nd, 2022No Comments

This time of year, I seem to spend quite a bit of time thinking about the resurrection of Jesus, what followed for the first disciples, and what follows for us today.

As I wrote last week, the resurrection is not something we can just move on from. It’s more like something God invites us to live into. Truth be told, living into it is a life-long journey of learning to pay attention to God’s life-giving presence. It doesn’t require perfect understanding (as if that were real) but imperfect trust in the God who never stops pouring out life and love.

So, today, consider what Megan McKenna writes in And Morning Came: Scriptures of the Resurrection.

The Resurrection is not a single event, but a loosening of God’s power and light into the earth and into history that continues to alter all things, infusing them with the grace and power of God’s own holiness. It is as though a door was opened, and what poured out will never be stopped, and the door cannot be closed.

Despite what often feels like evidence to the contrary in this crazy, troubled world, where do you see God’s resurrected loosened power and light altering things in your life?

How might you step through that opened door and into the flow of what God is already doing around you?

Let me draw your attention to three C’s at Park this week:

CHURCH WORK DAY ON SATURDAY: Saturday promises to be a beautiful day! Join us from 9 a.m. – Noon for landscaping, pruning, and outdoor clean-up.

CULVER’s YOUTH FUNDRAISEREat-in or drive-thru the Bloomington Culver’s (SE corner of 494 & Nicollet) on Monday from 5 – 8 p.m. Enjoy a butter burger, fries, and frozen custard A portion of the proceeds will go to support our youth mission trip to Washington D.C. this summer.

COVID GUIDELINES: Just a reminder to remain vigilant about health and safety protocols so we can keep everyone safe. Although Hennepin County is still in the low COVID-19 community transmission level, we are experiencing an increase in positive cases in the county. See COVID Safety Guidelines below.

Breathe love,

Pastor Gregg

COVID Safety Guidelines

Learn more about how to protect yourself with additional CDC recommendations for each COVID-19 Community Level. For additional CDC guidelines on isolation and quarantine and the vaccination, visit the CDC website.

  • Stay home if you are sick.
  • If you test positive for COVID-19, isolate for at least five days.
  • If you go out in public, wear a well-fitting mask (N95 or KN95) on days six through 10.
  • If you are not fully vaccinated, please wear an N95 or KN95 mask and maintain physical distance.
  • If you are unvaccinated and a household member tests positive, quarantine for at least five days.
  • If you are exposed to someone who is positive, wear a mask and monitor symptoms for 10 days after exposure.
  • Until further notice, masks are still required for Cornerstone and for everyone on the main level during Joyce Pre-School’s operating hours (M-F, 8-5).

Keep in mind that because of the fluid nature of COVID, should the situation change, we will update protocols accordingly.
