Want to know something I really like about Park? We’re a church that invests in our community.
For sure, our church has a regional (even global) reach. That’s a good thing. But while we reach people from the Twin Cities and beyond, the church was founded and is located in our South Minneapolis neighborhood. Because this is where God has planted us, we believe our most significant impact remains in relevant service to our immediate community.
One of our guiding principles captures this commitment: Park Avenue church is committed to serving our neighbors while expanding our regional reach. Another way of saying that is, we are on the block, for the block.
We serve and invest in our community in a number of ways. One way is through our Community Partner Fund (formerly Change For Change). Through financial gifts to this fund, our church is able to invest in and come alongside organizations doing great work in the community.
So, I just wanted you to know that in addition to our ongoing financial support of Laundry Love and monthly food distributions, in July our church gave a total of $9,000 to support the work of Sisters Camelot, Arrive Ministries, Beacon Interfaith Housing, 29:11 International Exchange, and NAMI Hennepin County. Plus — and this is cool — our church was also able to send 15 kids from Christ’s Children to camp.
That’s cause to celebrate! Standing ovation, everybody! It’s a joy to be together with you in this journey of faith, hope, and love.
Looking forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday. If you’ve been watching online, we’d love to see you in person! And by the way, see below for something you’ll want to be part of on September 18.
Breathe love and live in the wonder of loving God, others, and our neighbors — just as Jesus loves.
