I want to invite you to special events coming up on the next two Wednesday evenings.
First, Black History seminar with Ben Mchie
On Wednesday evening, February 15, from 6:30 – 8 PM, Ben Mchie, Executive Director of the African American Registry, will be with us to share his wisdom and expertise on, Black History: Setting the Table for the Future. Join us in the Gathering Room for what is sure to be an insightful and educational evening. The seminar is free, but it would be very helpful for planning if you registered. You can do that by clicking here.
Second, Ash Wednesday service
Join us in the sanctuary for our Ash Wednesday service on February 22 at 6:30 PM. This special service will include interactive stations for all ages to reflect and pray, followed by the imposition of ashes.
Why ashes? The use of ashes is a sign of mortality and repentance, which has a long history in Jewish and Christian worship. The historic practice of the Imposition of Ashes can be a powerful nonverbal and experiential way of participating in the call to repentance and reconciliation as we begin the season of Lent. It is traditional to save the palm branches from the previous Passion/Palm Sunday service and burn them ahead of time to produce the ashes for this service.
And just a reminder that our strategic planning survey closes on February 15. Thank you to all who’ve responded! Your input is so helpful! If you’ve yet to give your input about what you would like Park to be in the future, will you take a moment and fill out the brief church atttender survey? The survey is for everyone who attends in person or online. Just click here.
Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday in-person or online!
Breathe love,
Pastor Gregg
