Dr. King’s Prayer for the church

By January 14, 2022June 2nd, 2022No Comments

This Sunday is MLK Sunday. To commemorate the life and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we have a special guest for the service.

Emmy Award-winning actor, vocalist, arts educator, and community organizer, T. Mychael Rambo will join us. I’ve had the opportunity to meet T. Mychael and see him perform. He is a gift! You won’t want to miss it!

In preparation for this Sunday, I wonder if you’d join me in praying Dr. King’s prayer for the church. May God make this a prayer within us, as well.

Lord, we thank you for your church, founded upon your Word,
that challenges us to do more than sing and pray,
but go out and work as though the very answer to our prayers depended on us and not upon you.

Help us to realize that humanity was created to shine like the stars and live on through all eternity.
Keep us, we pray, in perfect peace.

Help us to walk together,
pray together,
sing together,
and live together
until that day
when all God’s children - Black, White, Red, Brown and Yellow -
will rejoice in one common band of humanity
in the reign of our Lord and of our God, we pray.

Amen.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday at 10 AM! If you’re joining us online, go to the online worship page at 10 AM CST.

And just a reminder that our Annual United Methodist Church Charge Conference, where we approve the budget and receive reports, will be held on this Sunday, January 16, at 4 PM via Zoom.

Breathe Love,

Pastor Gregg
