Faith & Politics | Can faith offer a way forward?

Have you ever wondered if faith and politics can truly mix? Many of us might feel they don’t belong together—that faith is personal, and politics is something separate. But let’s think about that for a moment. Our faith shapes how we see the world, right? And politics, at its core, is about how we live in that world together.

If we’re called to love God and love our neighbor, how can our faith not influence the way we engage with the issues and systems that affect everyone—especially those who are struggling or vulnerable? Politics isn’t just about parties or policies; it’s about people. It’s about how we treat one another and the decisions that impact us all.

I get that it’s tempting to keep these two worlds separate, especially in such a politically divisive time. We’ve all seen how political differences have strained relationships—even within our own families. The divisions can feel deep, but God doesn’t just call us to easy spaces. God calls us to show up in the tension, where love gets tested and faithfulness is formed. And that includes the messy, complicated world of politics.

That’s why, starting this Sunday, we’re kicking off our Faith & Politics sermon series. In a world where political conversations so often lead to division, this series will offer a fresh, faith-centered way forward. We’ll be welcoming special guests who will share how their faith shapes their political views and how they engage with others—especially when they don’t see eye to eye. Together, we’ll explore how to navigate the tension between faith and political engagement and, yes, how to love our neighbors even when we disagree.

Whether you’re passionate about politics or weary of the division it can create, this series will be a place for thoughtful, grace-filled conversations. So as we begin this journey together, maybe the question is: How can we faithfully show up for others, trusting that God meets us even in the complexities and tensions of this world? Can faith offer a way forward?

I hope you’ll join us. And, hey, why not invite a friend?

Much love,

Pastor Gregg
