Each person who walks through the doors of Park Avenue Church comes along their own path of faith, hope, and love. Some of us come with joy and confidence, others with questions and doubts, and many with a mix of both. We don’t expect anyone to have everything figured out. What matters is that we’re open to God’s presence and willing to walk this journey together, trusting that God meets us right where we are and invites us to keep moving forward.
We believe membership is more than a name on a list. It’s a declaration of belonging. It’s saying:“I choose to belong here, to be part of this particular expression of Christ’s Church called Park. I’m committed to walking my spiritual journey in this community with these folks.”
We have several people who have made that decision and will be joining Park Avenue Church as new members on Sunday, January 19. It’s a joy to welcome them! And it’s a good moment to reflect on what membership means.
Membership at Park Avenue Church
Membership is an invitation to say “yes” to three questions:
- Is Park a church community you choose to belong to and with whom you desire to work out your journey of faith, hope, and love? Belonging to a church isn’t just about attending services; it’s about being part of a family. It’s about saying, “This is where I will grow, serve, and love alongside others.”
- Will you commit to Park Avenue Church with your:
- Prayers
- Presence
- Gifts
- Service
- Witness
This is a shared commitment. We promise to pray for one another, to show up in each other’s lives, to offer our time, giving, and resources, to serve where there’s a need, and to bear witness to God’s work in the world.
- With God’s help, will you faithfully live by our Community Agreements to:
- Do no harm,
- Do all the good you can, and
- Stay in love with God?
These three simple commitments guide how we live together. They remind us that our faith is lived out in our actions—in the ways we treat one another (and ourselves) and the world around us.
Membership is a way of saying: I’m in. I’m part of this. I want to walk with the people of Park as we seek to follow Jesus together.
We’re excited for the new members joining us on January 19. And if you’ve been considering membership, I invite you to pray about it, ask questions, and let me know if you’re ready to take that step. Because this journey of faith is not meant to be traveled alone—we’re meant to walk it together.
