Prayer, Baptisms, & Plans

By January 20, 2023No Comments

Last year, Dennae Pierre, who serves at Roosevelt Community Church in Downtown Phoenix, put together a resource called ten prayers for the new year. The resource remains relevant as we begin 2023. Considering all that folks have been through over the last few years, I found this prayer for the weary particularly helpful, I hope you find it meaningful, too.

Prayer for the Weary

Lord, the last few years have been filled with sickness, death, job loss, isolation, anxiety, fear, and division. We are weary. In our weariness, we confess our cynicism and our skepticism and we ask for your renewal. Give us eyes to see the kingdom life Christ has promised—and fill us with a hope that allows us to live each day with soberness, generosity, and joy.

Celebrating Kids Baptisms

Since January can be a dreary month, let’s remember and celebrate the cutest among us! Did you know that in 2022 we baptized six amazing and precious children? Our congregation is committed to partnering with each family. One way to do that is to remember these kiddos (and their families) in prayer this year! Annie Taylor put together a flyer to help us. The flyer will be available on Sunday morning, and you can download it by clicking here. Place it on the fridge, on a mirror, or anywhere it will catch your eye. Each time you see it, ask God to bless these little ones and their families.

Planning Park’s Future

And one more thing. We’re thrilled to be receiving a lot of responses to the strategic planning survey that went out by email on Tuesday. Everyone’s input matters, and we want you to participate in planning our future together. If you’ve yet to give your input about what you would like Park to be in the future, will you take a moment and fill out the brief church attendee survey? The survey is for everyone who attends in person or online. Just click here.

Looking forward to seeing you on Sunday!

Breathe love,

Pastor Gregg
