I hope this note finds you well and enjoying the Spring weather. Or maybe should I say, Summer, and ask what happened to Spring? Either way, it’s nice to break free from the grip of winter and see leaves on the trees and flowers blooming. Simple reminders of the new life God promises in Christ.
We’re in for a treat this Sunday. It’s our joy to welcome friends from South Africa, Brendon Adams, and the music ministry 29:11 International Exchange will be with us during the worship service. Its mission is to facilitate hope and reconciliation through music, cross-cultural relationships, and individual artist development. Let’s give them a warm Park Avenue welcome! If you’d like to find out more about 29:11, as well as learn how to support them, check them out here.
And let me draw your attention to two important things following the service. First, May is Asian American and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) Month. Our very own Rosa Menning — daughter of Ryan and Jane Menning — received a state-level honorable mention award for her National History Day project about the Chinese Exclusion Act. Rosa’s project board will be on display outside the Gathering Room this Sunday and next. You’ll want to congratulate Rosa and learn from her work.
Second, I know many of you have questions about what’s going on with the United Methodist Church denomination. So, I’ve asked Rev. Cindy Gregorson, Director of Ministries for our Minnesota Annual Conference, to come to share the latest news and answer questions you may have about the direction of the UMC. Cindy will be with us following the service in the Gathering Room. Grab a cup of coffee, get something to eat, and join us to learn more.
Looking forward to seeing you this Sunday!
Breathe love,
Pastor Gregg
