Welcoming new children’s minister

By July 21, 2022No Comments

We announced last Sunday and I’m thrilled to let you know here that we have a new Director of Children’s Ministries! Ann Taylor (no relation) will be joining us on August 1. I’m grateful to our search/interview team for all the hours and dedication. A big thank you to Alana Flowers, Sara Schulz, Alexis Love, Zachary Schendel, and Carla Urban. And a special thank you to Alexis Love for filling in as interim. Alexis will now focus her attention on developing the children and youth choirs.

I know you will give Ann a warm Park welcome. Here’s just a little bit about her.

Ann Taylor has spent the last 15 years loving, teaching, and walking alongside kids and their families. She began her career in arts education, working for the Indianapolis Opera, Louisville Orchestra, and Kansas City Opera in Arts Education before transitioning to ministry in 2009. After 3 years at a church in Arkansas, Ann spent 7 years serving as the Elementary and Creative Arts Pastor at Christ Community Church in Kansas City. She moved to the Twin Cities in 2019 to attend Luther Seminary (MDiv, class of 2023- almost there!). Recently Ex-Evangelical, Ann believes in a church that can truly be inclusive, welcoming, and a place of refuge for all. She hopes that kids (of all ages) will know that God loves them and that this love will inspire them to love themselves and others. In her free time, she’s probably reading (and is a self-proclaimed biography nut), spending time in the sunshine, having adventures with her fiance, Charlie, and his super fun nine-year-old, Nora, or making flower crowns.

And speaking of hiring, we are currently in the process of finding talented people for two part-time positions: 1) Director/Minister of Congregational Care; 2) Bookkeeper & HR Specialist. If you or someone you know might be interested, here’s the link to information about both positions.

Looking forward to seeing you in worship this Sunday. If you’ve been watching online, we’d love to see you in person!

And just a heads-up: We will pass the plate a second time on Sunday for a special offering to support our youth and their mission trip to D.C. We’re looking to provide 10 scholarships of $200 to make sure each youth wanting to go can go. If you’d like to give toward a scholarship, you can do that Sunday morning or online by going to this link.

And remember, let’s follow the way of Jesus and breathe love,

Pastor Gregg
