Weekly Word with Pastor Gregg

What do you want our neighbors to know?

By May 11, 2023No Comments

Here’s something that warmed my heart this week.

A few weeks ago, Annie Taylor and Darelle Williams invited the kids and youth at Park to make signs for the neighborhood. Think about what you would want our neighbors to know about themselves, our church, and God, and then put the message on a sign.

Here are a few of the signs that you’ll begin to see around the church soon. Take a look at what our kids and youth feel, what they think, and the message they want to share with our neighbors. Notice a theme?

One other thing I want to mention to you this week. We’re coming up on three years now since George Floyd was killed by police officers just four blocks away from our church. To mark the three-year anniversary on May 25, several events are planned around the theme, Rise & Remember – Ubuntu: Make the Impossible, Possible. One event, which I hope you’ll consider attending, is the Candlelight Vigil on May 25, 8-10 p.m. at George Floyd Square. Folks are invited to stand in solidarity to remember George Floyd and his death’s impact on our community and world. You can find more information about the event here, and it’s free.

Before the vigil, I’ll be attending an event presented by the Minnesota Council of Churches called, Shifting the Spotlight: How can white allies be good extras? How can BIPOC people embrace the spotlight? I’d love for you to join me. You can find out more and register for the event by clicking here. It’s free as well.

Looking forward to worshiping with you on Sunday!

Much love to you, my friends,

Pastor Gregg
